Feature a Creature

This month our theme in the Stamping Sensation is: Feature a creature.  It can be any creature you can think of. I made a bookmark with little birdies.

For the bookmark base I smudged different Distress inks (colors listed below) to the plastic sheet, sprayed it with water and placed watercolor cardstock into the inks. After drying the bookmark with heat tool, I placed it to the inks again. After I was pleased with the background I stamped some script all over it with stamp from DoCraft Botanical Print set and Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

I used Crafty Individuals Birds and Branches stamp set. Branches and leaves was inked with Memento Pistachio ink and birds with Rich Cocoa ink. After stamping I took waterbrush and added some water to the image. Then everything was dry, I added some details with black, green and white pens.

Sentiment is computer generated and printed out to the white cardstock. I cutted sentiment to pieces and inked them with Memento Desert Sand ink.

Sentiment: "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."

I kept the back sidde of my bookmark very simple. It is colored same as front and I draw some white stitching lines.

We are thrilled to have Little Claire as this months sponsor again who are offering a fab £35 store voucher to spend on their products. Little Claire is a team of 3 consisting of Gill (Little Claire) Steve and Carol (long suffering member of staff/friend/all round good egg – but not as beautiful as Gill!). Necessity is the mother of invention’ this is the saying that sums up the creation of Little Claire Designs – we love stamps and what better way to satisfy the stamping ‘urge’ than to create our own designs exactly as we want them!

Time to time I like to make something else then card. This month I share two gift boxes. Here's one of them. It's a self closing box. I used a bit too thick cardstock for the base. Lighter cardstock will make the opening of the box easier.

I used Reindeer #722 digi version DIGI722J on my box. It's so easy to manipulate them. Just one easy step and mama reindeer was watching to the other side. Images are colored with alcohol base markers. I fussy cut them out and adhered them with foam tape.
I attached Reindeers then the box was flat. That was mistake. I should had assemble the box first. Right now it looks like they are falling to their butts.
I love Glittered Lacy Backgrounds. They are fun to make and looks stunning. I adhered 2 1/2" Tear-ific Tape to the white cardstock, placed lace on top and added Cloud Nine glitter. After glitter was rubbed on well, I removed the lace and covered rest of the tape with Reflection glitter.
Sentiment is printed to the white cardstock. After diecutting it with Oval die, I inked the edges with Broken China Distress ink. It is matted to a kraft label.
I used Leann Creatief Pine Tree die to diecut all the trees. For snowy look I added Dimensional Glue and Bridal Glitter. Fuzzy yarn was tied around the top of the box.

Here's the template. Klick on the image to see it larger.

The next stop on our blog hop is our fabulous Anne

It's not about the shoes

Today I have a simple and sparkly card to share with you. On this card I used image and one of the sentiments from Ballet Shoes #709 Digi set. It is also available as rubber stamp.

I like digital stamps because I can resize them as needed. Image is colored with alcohol base markers. I added some tiny pearls for decoration. Edges of the matting layer are covered with  1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape and  Bubble Gum glitter.

Background layer is covered with 3/4" Double-Sided "Tear-ific" Tape. After removing protective sheet I added some texture with Dreamweaver Damask stencil and Dreamweaver White Embossing Paste. Then paste was dry, I covered tape with Aqua Marine Glitter.

I tell you a secret. It' looks like entire back layer is covered with glitter, but it isn't. I added "Tear-ific" Tape only around the edges. This way you can save the glitter and image layer stays on the card much better.

Doberman

Dobermans are lovely dogs but their look makes me cautious. So I decided to showcase him on a feminine card. I like how it turned out. This majestic dog is very nice in front of pink and silver background.

Doberman is from Hearts Like Dogs #708 Digi set. After printing it out, I colored him with markers. I used the die from Radiant Rectangles set to trace an oval around the dog and fussy cut it out.
Layer behind the dog is covered with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Tinsel embossing powder.

Kraft cardstock is used for the background. I made it bit fancier with stamping. I used Spun Sugar distress ink to stamp Crackle Background #609 and text from Journal Mixed Media  #606 set. It looked very lovely and delicate. Next day, then I continued with the card, all the stamping was gone... This ink color was just too light to show up on the kraft after it dried. So I re-stamped everything, but this time with Worn Lipstick distress ink. After it was dry, I used VersaMark ink to stamp flourishes from  Flourishes Two stamp set #520 and heat embossed them with Tinsel embossing powder.

All pink layers are inked with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Cotton Candy EP.

I used white satin ribbon and piece of silver twine as embellishments.

I used lovey Geraniums stamp as a focal image. It is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Promarkers. I used die from Spellbinders Labels 36 set, traced it around the image and fussy cut it out. Same die was used to die cut the red matting layer.

Flower is made with Spellbinder Blooms Four dies. They are die cut from white cardstock and inked with Memento Ladybug ink and Mowed Lawn Distress ink. Greenery behind the flower is die cut with Spellbinders Sprigs die. This is colored with markers.

I love how the number 50 turned out. I used MemoryBox Classic Numbers dies and cut 4 (or 5, don't remeber anymore) sets of white and one set of red numbers. They are  all glued together and I added Glossy Accents on top.

On my card I used Ballet 709 digi version DIGI709. Image is colored with alcohol base markers. Image layer is fussy cut and edges are inked with Memento Desert Sand ink. Matting layer is die cut with largest die from  Spellbinders Labels Thirty-Six set out of cardstock which was covered with 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape". After adhering image layer in center, I covered rest of the tape with  Purple Rain microfine glitter.

Laces of the shoes are covered with Sakura Glue Pen and Lavender Iris glitter. I added some pearls around the image as embellishments.

Background is simple but thanks to Sparkle N Soft it's very pretty. I added 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" to the piece of white cardstock. Tape was covered with Blissful Blue Sparkle N Soft. As the name says: it sparkle and it's soft. Just beautiful! I dry embossed pattern to one side of the layer with Dreamweaver Chevron Background stencil.

I used my new Spellbinders Hydrangea die to make the flower. Petals was die cut out of white cardstock which was previously inked with Shaded Lilac Distress Inks. I scribbled dots with Sakura Glue Pen and added Purple Rain glitter in center of each blossom. Sprigs was die cut out of watercolor cardstock which was colored with Pine Needles, Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks.
Leftover piece from flower petals was added behind the image layer. You can see it better on the first photo.

Nesting Bird

Today I'd like to share with you a spring card made with embossing paste, embossing powder and glitter accents. Anne Temple made a very good tutorial about Embossing Paste and Embossing Powders Technique.

For the background I used Dreamweaver Chevron Background Stencil and White Embossing Paste. While embossing paste was still wet, I covered it with Spring Willow Embossing Powder. I let the paste to dry and after that I heated it with heat tool to melt the embossing powder.

This lovely image is from Nesting Bird Stamp Set #602. It is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Promarkers. I added strip of cardstock which was heat embossed with Spring Willow embossing powder.

Rocks was covered with Dimensional Glue. It dries clear and will keep the dimension. I also added Dimensional Glue to the Silver Flower and covered the glue with Bronze Splendor glitter.
I used Aleene's Take It Over and Over glue to make my glitter dots. For that I added dots of glue to the leftover backing sheet from 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" and added Bronze Splendor glitter on top. After glue was dry, I picked glitter dots with x-acto knive, placed them to the card and added Dimensional Glue on top.

I also used  white Crocheted Lace Ribbon and Mon Ami Gabby Diamond Mesh to embellish my card. Narrow brown strip on the side of chevron layer is made with cardstock, 1/4" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape and Bronze Splendor glitter.

Materials used:
