Old Friends

For me, it is difficult to make masculine cards. But this time was different. This card came together fairly simple. I used Cruisin' and Nature of Beach Rubber and Digital Stamp Sets.

As a focal point, I used digital images from Cruisin' (car) and Nature of Beach (turtle) Stamp Sets. I changed the turtle to white and re-sized it to fit the car door. I also added some color behind the car.

I made my own pattern paper using pre-colored images from Nature of Beach Digital Stamp Set.

The sentiment, from Cruisin' Stamp Set, is stamped with the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink to the Black Cardstock. I heat embossed it with White Detail Embossing Powder and cut the sentiment into two strips.
I made a faux wax-seal to decorate the sentiment. I poured a little pile Super Thick Gold Embossing Powder to the non-stick craft mat and used the heat tool from underneath to melt the powder. While melted embossing powder was still hot, I inked the little turtle from Nature of Beach Stamp set with pressed the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and pressed it into the puddle.

Edges of the matting layers are inked with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Gold Detail Embossing Powder. Everything is layered on top of the black card base. I didn't add any embellishments to the card. I'm happy with it the way it is.

Shell balloons

Nature of Beach is a stunning stamp set with beautiful seashells, turtles and starfishes, but I used it in a different way. Along with Unicorn Party, I created a scene with Birthday balloons flying up to the sky.

I stamped two seashells and a big starfish from Nature of Beach Set with Desert Sand Memento Ink and colored them in with Nuvo Markers. To make them look like balloons, I drew a little end piece as well and covered my 'balloons' with Dimensional Glue. After the glue was dry, I cut them out with scissors.

The sentiment is stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Black Detail Embossing Powder. I drew a banner shape around it with Sakura Glue Pen and covered it with Teal Velveteen Microfine Glitter. After it was dry, I used scissors to cut the banner out.

To make the background is stamped the cloud from Unicorn Party several times with Summer Sky Memento ink. The area in between the clouds was colored with Nuvo Markers. I added some color to the clouds as well. Then I 'colored' the clouds with Versamarker Pen and heat embossed them with Sparkle Embossing Powder

Matting layer is my usual: Edges of the cardstock are covered with 1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape, then I adhered the background layer in the center and covered rest of the tape with Teal Velveteen Microfine Glitter
Some Yellow Bird Nuvo Glitter Drops was added as fun embellishments.

Materials used:
Nature of Beach 929;
Unicorn Party 907;
Sparkle Embossing Powder [EP107];
Black Detail Embossing Powder [EP171];
Teal Velveteen Microfine Glitter [GM2017];
1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape [SAT01];
Dimensional Glue [539];
Sakura Glue Pen [Quicky];
Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink [101N];

Sand Dune Silhouettes

Silhouette stamp sets are versatile. I decided to create a winter scene with Sand Dune Silhouettes Stamp Set. Because I used watercolor mediums, it's hard to tell that these images are actually silhouettes.

I stamped the fence silhouette with Hickory Smoke Distress ink. Then I took out some Nuvo Aqua Flow Brush Pens and painted the background. After everything was dry, I added color to the fence. Then I stamped the same image to the sticky-back post-it paper and cut it out to mask the painted fence. I stamped the grass many times. I used water base brush markers instead of inks. It is a good idea to use any kind of Stamp Platform for this. This will let you stamp the image in the same place as many times you need. The first layer was stamped with the sand color marker and the second layer with dark blue

To get some texture for the snow, I sprinkled Vanilla Ice Embossing Powder in few places. I used the heat tool from underneath the paper to melt the powder.

The sentiment and two star-fish are stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink to the black cardstock. They wore heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder. The sentiment was cut to a long strip and both star-fish wore fussy-cut and adhered in front of the sentiment.

Edges of the matting layer were covered with 1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and Black Diamond Microfine Glitter. The same glitter was adhered with the liquid glue to end of the sentiment strip.

That was my simple card featuring the new Sand Dune Silhouettes.

Materials used:
Black Diamond Microfine Glitter [GM2046];
Nuvo Aqua Flow Brush Pens;
Stamp Platform;
Hickory Smoke Distress ink;  Watercolor Brush Markers;

Peony Inspiration

Two weeks ago, I shared a card made with a beautiful Vintage Peony Inspiration Stamp Set. Here is another one made with this set. I combined it with Botanical Ruffled Peony Stamp Set. They are fantastic together.

I love how those flowers look then they are watercolored without an outline.  I used ordinary Watercolor Brush Markers and Bristol Smooth Cardstock. First, I placed the cardstock and the stamp to the Stamp Platform. I colored the stamp (one section at a time) with markers and stamped the image to the cardstock. I repeated it until it was all stamped. Then I took a small paintbrush and a bit of water and colored it all in. It wasn't necessary to add any more color, it transferred from the lines very well. After the coloring was done, I let it dry and then placed it back to the Stamp Platform. I re-stamped the image with the same markers to get the details back. Deeper shadows were painted with markers.

The sentiment is from Vintage Peony Inspiration Stamp set. I stamped it with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Sea Foam Embossing Powder. Actually, it wasn't important which color EP I used because I covered it later with Razzle Dazzle Glitter and used the heat tool from underneath to melt the glitter into the embossed sentiment. Rest of the loose glitter was brushed off.

For the background, I adhered 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape to the cardstock. With the help of the x-acto knife and a ruler, I cut the protective layer to diagonal stripes, alternating 0,5 cm and 1 cm strips. I peeled off the protective layer from all half cm strips and covered the tape with Razzle Dazzle Glitter. One cm strips were covered with Fantasy Gold Glitter

To embellish my card, I sprinkled some Happiness Super Thick Embossing Powder to the background and melt the powder from underneath the cardstock with the Heat Tool. I also added a few strips of lace to decorate my card.

Materials used:
Watercolor Brush Markers; Stamp Platform; Pattern Paper; Lace;

Ruffled Peony

This April brought us two fabulous Peony stamp sets by Sparkle N Sprinkle. One set was featured on my last week blog post, here is the other one - Botanical Ruffled Peony. Mostly, I used the digital version of this set, except the sentiment.

Let's start with the background. I took one of the digital pattern paper from Marble Magic Papers set as a base and placed several copies of the peony flowers from the Botanical Ruffled Peony digital set on top of it. This way I got a wonderful new pattern paper to print out. Then I adhered 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape on top of the printed paper and covered the tape with Cloud Nine Glitter. I also sprinkled some specks of Super Thick Gold Embossing Powder to it, and heat set from underneath the paper.

For the Peony border, I placed several flowers to side by side and printed them out. I adhered Fantasy Gold Glitter in center of flowers with Sakura Glue Pen. After fussy cutting the top edge, I inked all layer with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink, covered it with Sparkle Embossing Powder.

The sentiment from Botanical Ruffled Peony Stamp set is stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and it is heat embossed with Gold Detail Embossing Powder
For the matting layer, I covered a piece of paper with 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and die-cut it out. Then I removed the protective layer from the tape and covered the sticky paper with Fantasy Gold Glitter

As usual, I like to make a glitter matting layer for my card background. For that, I adhere 1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape to the edges of the matting layer, adhere the background to the middle of it and cover rest of the tape with glitter - this time it was Fantasy Gold Glitter.

Supplies used:
Botanical Ruffled Peony [938], [Digi938];
Marble Magic Papers [Digi4009];
Cloud Nine Glitter [GM2000];
Sparkle [EP1007];
Sakura Glue Pen [Quicky]
Scattered Straw Distress Ink; Spellbinders dies (Labels Eighteen, Floral Ovals);

Vintage Peony Inspiration

It is super easy to do a No line watercolor technique with Vintage Peony Inspiration [930]. Even though it has always been intimidating to me. The key is to use any kind of stamp platform tool, right cardstock, and water-based markers.

Military Green Embossing Powder [EP288];
Sunshine Embossing Powder [EP200];
Neon Super Thick Embossing Powder [EP481];

Solar Flare Shimmer Powder [1210N];
Watercolor Brush Markers; Stamp Platform; Lace;

I used cheap Watercolor Brush Markers and Bristol Smooth Cardstock. First I placed the cardstock and the stamp to the Stamp Platform. I colored the stamp (one section at a time) with markers and stamped the image to the cardstock. I repeated it until it was all stamped. Then I took a small paintbrush and a bit of water and colored it all in. It wasn't necessary to add any more color, it transferred from the lines very well. After coloring was done, I let it dry and then placed it back to the Stamp Platform. I re-stamped the image with the same markers to get the details back. Deeper shadows were drawn in with markers.
Even though you can't see on the photo, the flower is covered with Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen. The center of the flower is covered with  Dimensional Glue and Sun Dazzle Flocking

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. Is stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Military Green Embossing Powder. I used a stitched rectangle die to cut it out and colored it with yellow Aqua Flow Brush Pen.

The background is colored with Nuvo Aqua Flow Brush Pens from various sets. After it was dry, I stamped the leaves from the image all around the edge with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed some of them with Military Green Embossing Powder and others with Sunshine Embossing PowderNeon Super Thick Embossing Powder was sprinkled to the background and heat embossed from underneath the cardstock.

I inked the edge of the background with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with Military Green Embossing Powder. Some lace was added as embellishment.
