Suitcase

Hello my friends! Today I'll share with you a 3D project. I made a cardstock suitcase to hold six small SNS glitter and/or embossing powder jars. I'm pleased how it turned out. I kept this suitcase on my desk almost three  weeks before I was willing to send it away.

Crackle Background Stamp, Copper Flame and Caramel embossing powders are wonderful to mimic a look of a vintage suitcase.

To achieve different look with same stamp and embossing powders you just have to change the order of using the embossing powders. In front of the suitcase I stamped the Crackle Background with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Caramel EP. Then I sprinkled some Copper Flame EP on top and heat embossed from underneath the cardstock. For the back side of the suitcase I first added Copper Flame EP and heat embossed it, then I stamped the Crackle Background with Versamark ink and heat embossed with  Caramel EP. Caramel EP has lovely shimmer in it. Copper Flame EP will pick it up also and it changes it's color slightly.

For the glittered leaves I adhered strip of 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" to the green cardstock and cut with die from  Spellbinder Sprigs set two leaves. After removing the protective sheet from the leaves I covered the sticky part with Luau Green Microfine Glitter.

Blue "leather" straps are cut from white cardstock. After piercing the holes to the both edges I covered straps with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Skylight EP. I also added EP to one end of the other side of the strap.

I used two 5 x 0,5 cm strips to make a rectangles to hold the box closed. These strips are heat embossed with Caramel EP.
Suitcase handles are cut with dies from Spellbinder Label Four set. They are inked with Versamark ink from both sides and heat embossed with Copper Flame EP. I also added second coat of EP to give the handles more dimension.

There is no old and well traveled suitcase without stickers. I made some with stamps Travel Mixed Media Stamp Set. I used the Memento Rich Cocoa ink to stamp all the images from the set to the white cardstock. The map was inked slightly with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and Memento Pear Tart. From the map I cut three ovals with smallest die from Spellbinder Floral Ovals set.  Postal stamps are inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink and cut out with scissors.

All brads are covered with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Caramel EP. Brads are attached to the box before assembling the boxes. It would be much easier to attach brads only to the straps but I wanted to be sure that the suitcase is sturdy and won't fall apart.

After adhering the "Stickers" I added the Glossy Accents to the oval shapes. This way they look like a real stickers.

There are hidden magnets adhered to the boxes before assembling them. Take a look to the template to see where they are.

I used second smallest die from Spellbinders Label Four set to make the hinges out of brown cadrstack to the inside of the suitcase.

Boxes are made from 2 sheets of A4 cardstocks. With them I was able to make a box that fits 6 SNS embossing or glitter jars if you place 3 of them up-side down.

Flowers are cut with Spellbinder Bloom Four dies out of white cardstock. I inked them with  - Dusty Concord Distress Ink and Memento - Summer Sky. After shaping them with round stylus and and assembling I added a white pearl to the center of each flower.

You can see the full instructions how I made this suitcase in the SNS Gallery here. Also take a look to the template  to understand better how this suitcase is made.
