Floral Flourish

Today I'll show you one simple card with fantastic masking technique.
I used two stamp sets from SNS: Floral Flourish #634 and Journal Mixed Media #606. Card base is a Kraft CS. I stamped the flourish directly to the card base with VersaMark ink, covered it with Belgian Cream embossing powder and heat set. There is also an off-white twine wrapped around the card and attached with a tape in front (front panel will cover it up).

Lovely  Floral Flourish is stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Promarkers. Then I applied ink with VersaMarker pen to the blooms, covered with Sparkle EP and heat set. Rest of the flourish is also  covered with VersaMarker pen and heat embossed with Clear Detail EP.

I stamped the background with stamp from Journal Mixed Media set directly over Flourish image and wiped off the excess ink from the embossing. Clear embossing over the image makes a fantastic resist for the ink. Thanks to this there is no need to stamp and cut a mask.

Beside the Kraft card base I used white CS only. You can use colored CS for the matting layers but I like to keep it for projects I really need it. I just color the sides of the white CS with the markers.
For the "red" layer I added 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape all around the edges, removed protective sheet and adhered stamped layer on top. Rest of the tape is covered with Cherry Sparkle SS - it's soft and fuzzy and sparkles so nicely. To the "black"layer I adhered 1/4" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape to the edges, removed protective sheet and adhered red layer on top. Tape is covered with Black Suede GM.

I hope you got inspired to use embossing powder as a mask. Full instructions how I made this card are in SNS Gallery.
