The Night Owl

My favorite stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle September reveal is Great Horned Owl Stamp Set. It has gorgeous images and sentiments with beautiful fonts.

Materials used:
Great Horned Owl Stamp Set #912;
Black Detail Embossing Powder [EP171];
Midnight Madness Embossing Powder [EP252]
Irish Isle Glitter [G1141];
Champagne Glitter [G1045];
Black Diamonds Microfine Glitter [GM2046];
1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape [SAT04];
Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens - Surprise Party [896N], Winter Sky [891N], Ocean Air [897N];
Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink [201N];
Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink [101N];
Silver Smoke Nuvo Mica Mist [572N];
Sakura Glue Pen [Quicky];
Tim Holtz Stamp Platform [1707E];
White Gesso;

I stamped the owl from the Great Horned Owl Stamp Set with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink and colored it with Nuvo Alcohol Markers. The tree, where the Owl sits on, was a bit short for my need, so I drew it a bit longer. After fussy cutting the owl, I took Sakura Glue Pen and adhered some Champagne Glitter to his feathers.

The background is painted to the Watercolor Cardstock with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens. I layered the colors to the wet cardstock and let it dry a bit and added more colors and Silver Smoke Nuvo Mica Mist in between. It was fun to experiment with them. After everything was dry, I inked the edges with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink. As the last step, I diluted some White Gesso with water and splattered it on top of the background.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Great Horned Owl Stamp Set to the painted background with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Black Detail Embossing Powder

Mica Mist gives a very nice subtle shine to the background but I wanted more sparkle. I stamped the branch from the same stamp set several times to the edges of the background with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed them with Midnight Madness Embossing Powder. Inside of the leaves is colored with Sakura Glue Pen and Irish Isle Glitter. The same glitter has also adhered to the card base on top of the 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape

Thank you for the visit!

Hello Sunflower

Hello, Autumn! Here is one sparkly card full of sunshine and warmth of the Summer. I used many Sparkle N Sprinkle glitters and new Sunflower Cheer Stamp Set #916.

Materials used:

I started by stamping the flower from Sunflower Cheer Stamp Set with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink to the white cardstock. The image is colored with Nuvo Marker Pens. I drew an oval around the flower and fussy cut the image out with scissors. The flower center is covered with Dimensional Glue and Dark Chocolate Flocking
I covered piece of cardstock with 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and used an Oval die to cut the shape. I adhered sunflower image to the middle of it and covered the edges with Hickory Microfine Glitter

The polka dot background is made out of leftovers. Do you know those round sticker labels? I used them to label my stamp sets. I was left with a big sticker full of holes. I didn't want to waste it, so I cut it to the size I needed and covered its sticky side with Gecko Microfine Glitter. This has adhered to a piece of cardstock which was covered with 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape. I placed HAI Supply Rainbow Sprinkles Sequins to some of the circles and then I adhered strips of 1/8" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape to both sides of the polka dot sticker. I covered all of the sticky parts with Butterscotch Microfine Glitter. Then I removed the protective layer from the 1/8" Tear-ific Tape and covered it with Hickory Microfine Glitter.

The sentiment is stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and it's heat embossed with Coffee Embossing Powder. I used the x-acto knife to cut it out. The sentiment was adhered to the background with foam tape.

As final embellishments, I added few dots of Yellow Bird Nuvo Glitter Drops and some
HAI Supply Round Embossed Sequins all over the card.

Thank you for the visit!

Cool Birthday

Have you seen already this adorable Sparkle N Sprinkle Dancing Penguin Stamp Set #913? I adore this darling little Penguin, but if you are not interested in cute cartoonish animals, you can still use this stamp set. Here's an example:

Materials used:
Crackle Background Stamp #609;
Cloud Nine Glitter [GM2000];
Blue Haze Glitter [GM2022];
Sterling Glitter [GM2035];
Sticker Paper [99558];
Oceanic Glass Glitter, Tonic Trellis Circles Base Die Set, Summer Sky Memento ink, Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, Rose Creations and Foliage dies, Marianne Design Dies

The card base is cut with largest die from the old Tonic Trellis Circles Base Die Set. I used scissors to cut a bit smaller circle out of light blue paper. I inked part of the Crackle Background Stamp with Summer Sky Memento ink and stamped it to the blue circle. Dancing Penguin Stamp Set comes with two snowflakes stamps. I stamped them several times with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Vanilla Ice Embossing Powder. In the center of the snowflakes, I added White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops. I also made a second circle for the card front in the same way.
The sentiment is stamped with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink to the White Cardstock and I heat embossed it with Silver Detail Embossing Powder. I used Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die to cut it out. I inked the sentiment label slightly with Summer Sky Memento ink. I adhered the sentiment to the inside of the card with foam tape. This way it will act as a stopper for the easel.

To make the flowers, I diluted some Cerulean Blue Nuance Watercolor Powder with water inside of the spritzer bottle. Then I spritzed it to the White Cardstock. After this was dry, I used Spellbinders  Rose Creations dies to cut the flowers. I shaped and assembled them. To the center of each flower, I punched the stamens out of vellum and added Simply White Nuvo Crystal Drops. Some White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops was smudged to the flower petals. Vellum leaves are made with Spellbinders Foliage die.
Silver paper is also made by me: I adhered Super Adhesive Sheet to the thinner white cardstock and covered it with Silver Bullion Nuvo Gilding Flakes. Out of it, I cut some more foliage with Marianne Design dis and also the frame for the shaker element.

Background of the shaker element is made out of white Cardstock which was inked slightly from one side with Summer Sky Memento ink. Same ink was used to stamp the snowflakes from Dancing Penguin Stamp Set. As a shaker filler, I used HAI Supply Elsa Blue Sequins and Oceanic Glass Glitter.

I used Dragonfly Broach Tonic Die to die cut the Dragonfly out of Sticker Paper. I covered its wings with Cloud Nine and Blue Haze Microfine Glitters. The body is covered with Dimensional Glue and Sterling Microfine Glitter.

Some Simply White Nuvo Crystal Drops was added to the card front and White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops to the sentiment label as a finishing touch. Here is a final look of my easel card.

Thank you for the visit!

Winter Hi

Hi! This month, Sparkle N Sprinkle reveals some fun Christmas stamp set among other beauties. On this card, I'm using wonderful Dancing Penguin Stamp Set #913. This little Penguin is so cute dancing around with her Santa hat.  I decided to place her in the North Pole. She looks really happy like she was just visiting Santa Clause.

Materials used:
Tree Scene Stamp Set #723;
Twinkling Clouds Flocking [SS107];
Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens - Spring Meadow [893N], Summer Holiday [892N], Autumn Woodland [890N], Winter Sky [891N], Ocean Air [897N];
(White Gesso)

I was disputing about what medium do I use for coloring the Penguin. I thought about markers but then I saw a piece of watercolor paper on my desk. It was slightly misted with the Silver Smoke Nuvo Mica Mist. I decided to go with it to see how it will turn out. I stamped the Penguin with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink. Of course, I used the Stamp Platform to get a nice impression. The image was colored with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens from different sets. I love how the Mica Mist is peeking from underneath and gives some shine to the Penguin and I like how the texture of the cardstock looks on her belly. The trim on her hat is covered with Dimensional Glue and Twinkling Clouds Flocking. Her peek, flippers and the bell on her hat are covered with Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops

Because I placed her in the North Pole, I needed some trees in the background. One of my favorite winter stamps, Tree Scene, was brilliant for my card. This stamp has two large trees, but I needed several small ones. What to do? Stamp Platform came to rescue.
1. I stuck the stamp to the center of the Stamp Platform lid. I stamped the image with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink to the acetate sheet. It's important to line up the acetate to the corner of the platform.
2. I placed the watercolor cardstock underneath the acetate.  It's easy to see where the trees are going to be stamped. On the second image, you can see that I already stamped four trees and 1st and 4th trees are on the acetate.
3. After I lined up the watercolor cardstock to its place, I added a scrap piece of paper to cover up the area I didn't want any stamping.
4. On the 4th photo, you can see how the tree looks. Part of it is stamped to the scrap paper, part of the tree wasn't inked at all. Those trees are much taller in real.
5. On the 5th photo, all the trees are stamped and they are ready to be covered with Nuvo Masking Fluid.

After the Masking Fluid was dry, I covered the sky with water and started to add colors with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens. I let it dry and then I inked the edges of the sky with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid ink. The sentiment came in two parts. Stamp Platform was used again for stamping. I used the Anti-Static bag to prep the cardstock. I stamped the first part of the sentiment with the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder. I used the acetate technique inside of the Stamp Platform to line up the second part of the sentiment: first I stamped the sentiment to the acetate with black ink, placed the cardstock underneath the acetate in the way that sentiment was on correct place, adhered the CS with magnets, removed the acetate, stamped the sentiment the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder. All I had to do now, was adding the stars. I diluted some White Gesso with water and splattered it to the sky.

Trees and ground were also colored with Aqua Flow Watercolor Brush Pens. I mixed some Waterscape Glitter and Dimensional Glue to add the snow to the ground and some to the trees. The mixture was added with the stronger paint brush. I like then the edges of the cardstock are a bit darker. So I inked the edges of the snow part slightly with Nuvo Metro Grey Hybrid ink.

Penguin adheres to the card with 1 1/2 Action Wobbler. It makes her truly dance! So adorable! This little Penguin is truly happy to be in the North Pole :)

Glitter matting layer is made with 1/4" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and Irish Isle Glitter: I covered the edges of the cardstock with tape, adhered colored layer in the center and covered rest of the tape with glitter.

Thank you for the visit!

About Your Age...

Hi! I love to make Birthday cards with flowers but sometimes you need a bit corky cards. Sparkle n Sprinkle Spring Chickens Stamp Set is a good set to have for those times. Here is a card I made with it.

Materials used:
Spring Chickens Digital Stamp Set Digi914;
Cloud Nine Microfine Glitter [GM2000];
Hickory Microfine Glitter [GM2044];
Butterscotch Microfine Glitter [GM2051];
2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape [SAT11];
1/8" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape [SAT02];
Nuvo Alcohol Markers;
Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive [200N];
Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops [677N];
Yellow Bird Nuvo Glitter Drops [769N];
MemoryBox Classic Numbers dies, Studio Light Pattern paper, Tea Dye Distress Ink

I used one of the images and one sentiment from the Spring Chickens Digital Stamp Set. They ware printed to the white cardstock. Image is colored with Nuvo Alcohol Markers. I fussy cut it out and added coat of Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops to her peak, egg and the thing on her head... I don't know how it is called in English...

The background is fairly simple. I adhered 2 1/2" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape in the middle of the pattern paper and removed the protective layer from the tape. I used MemoryBox Classic Numbers dies to die cut bunch of number from the same protective layer. Then I adhered those numbers randomly to the tape. All the revealed tape was covered with Cloud Nine Microfine Glitter. After that, I removed the numbers and covered the rest of the tape with Hickory Microfine Glitter. Cloud Nine is a semi-transparent glitter, so the pattern paper shows through it.
To give the finished look, I adhered 1/8" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape to top and bottom edges of the glittered background. Those tapes ware covered with Hickory Microfine Glitter and Butterscotch Microfine Glitter

I inked the edges of the pattern paper with Tea Dye Distress Ink. I like the extra depth that darker edges give. As usually, edges of the matting layer are covered with 1/8" Double Sided Tear-ific Tape and Hickory Microfine Glitter. Some dots of Yellow Bird Nuvo Glitter Drops was added around the chicken.

Thank you for the visit!
